Out to Learn willow is run by Clare Revera, a fully qualified teacher and Mel Bastier, a graphic designer. We specialise in training adults and children in the traditional craft of willow weaving, using dried and living willow.
We design and build beautiful structures and sculptures to enhance school grounds, gardens and community areas.
Examples of living structures include domes, tunnels, arbours and arches and sculptures include a giant owl, snail and badger which are large enough for children to fit inside.
We also take on bespoke projects to suit individual requirements. These include full design service with working drawings, recommended if you are a little unsure of what would suit your project.
In addition to building willow structures and helping groups to develop their outdoor spaces we offer a range of workshop style courses. They are suitable for schools, community groups or anyone interested in learning the traditional art of willow weaving with both living and dried willow.
These courses are run throughout the year at a variety of venues in South Wales. We advise early booking as the courses always sell out.
See Willow Courses for details of forthcoming courses.
We both hold a current CRB check.
We planted 12,000 willow saplings last winter, trained 320 teachers and worked with over 3500 children.
